On Saturday the 4th of November 2023 in the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow, Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) held a very successful National Snooker & Billiards Junior Developmental Day from 11am to 4pm with PJ Nolan our National Coach and his fellow SBI Qualified coaches.
Pro Superstar
Irish Professional Snooker Star Aaron Hill from Cork was in attendance to play a number of the juniors on the day and it was great to meet and watch this superstar of World Snooker in action during this Developmental Day.
Players from Cork, Carlow, Waterford, Galway, Kildare, Dublin, Limerick and Wicklow attended this promotion of Junior Snooker.
Tables
SBI used 8 full size snooker tables for the more experienced players on the day plus four mini star tables in the Academy to introduce new younger people to the game.
Each year SBI hold Junior Developmental days to introduce and encourage more juniors to play our beautiful sports. Players from all across Ireland attended today and made it another great day in our new SBI Academy.
A Sport for Everyone
SBI would like to thank all our members and clubs around Ireland for promoting this day with our Irish National Coach PJ Nolan and his team of SBI Coaches in Shane Gorman, John Kehoe, Cathal Moore and incoming SBI Chairman Jay Chopra in helping to make it a great day of Junior Snooker.
All SBI Qualified Coaches who are Garda vetted were also invited to attend the day. The players will then learn about the Stance, Grip, Cue Action, Cue Ball Control and Basic Potting Skills and having some fun in learning the skills of the game. The game of Billiards was also introduced to the players by John Kehoe.
Free Coaching Session
Ben du Bois from Galway was the winner of the draw for a 2hr private Coaching Session with PJ Nolan on the day and he was presented with his voucher by Jay Chopra.

SBI would like to thank Aaron Hill for attending and making it so special and to SBI Coaches Cathal Moore, John Kehoe and Shane Gorman for coaching and helping on the day as the day was hailed a huge success.
Finally a big thank you to all the young players and their parents for bringing them to this developmental day. The next developmental day will be held on 30th of December in the SBI HQ in Carlow and we hope to see everyone again on the table.
