The 2015 Donegal Snooker Championship was played last Thursday night in Donegal town snooker club between Aidan Devenney North west snooker club Letterkenny and defending champion Johnnie Connors CYMS Letterkenny. After the first two frames were shared Aidan seemed to settle the better and anytime he was giving a chance scored a few points and played some better safety to go in at the interval 3-1 in front.
After the refreshments Aidan had a couple of 20+ breaks to leave him one from victory and while on a 35 break in the 6th he missed the black with one red left and was only 34 in front. Johnnie took a red & black and proceeded to clear up the colours on to miss a cross double to the middle on the pink and after playing a few safety shots Aidan potted the pink to lift his second Donegal title… Congratulations and well done to Aidan from all in the Northwest Snooker club..
Also the club has two junior players, Sean Devenney, Letterkenny and Ronan Whyte, Ardara in Carlow this weekend representing Ireland in the Celtic Challenge Against Wales. Both players were part of the winning team last year who beat the Welsh on home soil 74 -70 in the Terry Griffiths match rooms in Llanelli first time in 8 years. We wish both Sean and Ronan all the best and hope team Ireland are victorious…
