On Saturday the 26th of September, The DBSL (Dublin Billiards & Snooker Leagues) held a free Open Snooker day for all young players around Dublin in Fairview Snooker Club in Dublin city.
This was DBSL third event this season to help promote the game in Dublin. RIBSA National Coach PJ Nolan was again in attendance to coach and encourage the players which was hailed a big success again by the DBSL.
The players attended were Andrei Blondu, Tyrek Doran, Sean O’ Toole, Brandon Treacy, Dane Treacy, Nathan Sunner, Jonathan Sunner, Kyle Mealey, Gary Quinn, Jason Reid, Brad Kinsella, Jamie Bewley, Jonathan Bewley, Lewis Brophy, Scott Brophy and Aaron Smith.
They were put through their paces and PJ worked on their techniques using his academy alignment laser to help the players get into a good address position and developing their Stance, Grip, Bridge and Cue Actions.
Snooker in Dublin is on the up with the start of the leagues and there is plenty more snooker in Fairview with a weekly Saturday Handicap Flyer @ 1pm. Sunday has a 6 Red Handicap held @ 6.45pm. Wednesday 6 Red Handicap is held @7pm and each Sunday morning a Junior Handicaps is held @ 10am.
Stephen Merrigan Chairman of the DBSL was on hand to watch the session and he was delighted with the turnout. He said the DBSL will hold more promotional days around Dublin and he hopes the players enjoyed the day.
Finally the DBSL would like to thank PJ and all the players who attended today. They would also like to thank Darren Savage from Fairview Snooker Club for the excellent conditions and making the day a huge success. The DBSL are already looking forward to doing it all again later in the year so check out the DBSL Facebook and DBSL Website for more details.
