On October 14th/15th October SBI held the second amateur event of the season where it was Ryan Cronin from Cork who wins his second event of the season. We had 57 entries for this event and by the end of Saturday we were down to the last 16.
There were a number of outstanding performances which included Dane Mulpeter beating Greg Casey in the last 32. Another cracking match up saw Mark Tuite meet John Farrell also in the last 32 and it was Mark who went through to the next round.
Sunday morning saw the start of the last 16 where six out the seeds made it through. These six seeds all made it through to the quarter final stages. Again it was the top 4 seeds who made the semis.
Quarter Finals
- Ryan Cronin 4-0 Mark Gleeson
- Noel Landers 3-4 Rodney Goggins
- Brendan O Donoghue 4-1 Stephen Bateman
- Mark Tuite 3-4 Ross Bulman
The two semis were fantastic with both semi-final matches going the distance with Ross Bulman and Ryan Cronin coming out on top.
Semi Finals
- Rodney Goggins 2-4 Ryan Cronin
- Ross Bulman 4-2 Brendan O Donoghue
Final
- Ryan Cronin 4-2 Ross Bulman
In the final it was Ryan who took the early advantage taking the first 3 frames before Ross pulled 2 back but Ryan proved too strong to take the title with a score-line of 4-2. SBI would like to thank all players who entered this event. We like to thank TD Shane Mason and referees Pat Mooney and Stephen Foster.
SBI would like to remind all players that all entries close at 1pm on the Thursday prior to each event.
