Welcome to our new online presence here at www.ribsa.ie. RIBSA has had a web site for over 10 years now and we have always tried to use the site to bring you our members the most up to date information about the sport of snooker in Ireland. With this new site we hope to improve again on that and encourage you the members to get involved and submit your own news from you own clubs around the country to help keep this site up to date with fresh content.
With the popularity of facebook nearly everyone is online and posting their status and tweets so hopefully now we can get some interested volunteers with an interest in the game to promote the sport from their own back yard. We will be contacting people over the coming weeks but should anyone be interested feel free to contact us here and let us know.
The site will aim to build on the great work done by Greg White, PJ Nolan and co over the last few years and hopefully with help from other interested members we can make this site one of the best national snooker and billiard sites in the world.
We will also be working on jazzing up the image of snooker in Ireland and hopefully you will see a lot more of RIBSA on your local clubs notice board also as we aim to make Ireland’s top players a bit more recognizable. With the seniors events traveling around the country this year hopefully we can reach more and more players as the season progresses through a better marketing campain using the likes of facebook, websites and traditional media.
If anyone has any thought’s on things RIBSA can improve upon with regard to the web site and promoting snooker in general feel free to contact us and we will certainly look at it.
The site is far from finished as most of the menu’s and category’s are not live yet but we will be adding them slowly in the run up to the new season. There are a couple of reasons for this, one is the sheer amount of information and stories that we have built up over the years will take a long time to port over to this site. Thus we will be keeping the old sites live and you will be able to link from this site back to the old sites for reference on any old stories.
The main reason was that RIBSA are reviewing a lot of it’s tournament structures and even ranking systems at present so we will hold off on producing new ranking lists, draw sheets until this has all been finalized. When it is the tournament sections on the main menu will be able to be finalized as will the 2011/12 ranking list and the full calendar.
So bare with us for the next few weeks and you will see huge additions to this site and again should anyone have any suggestions feel free to contact any of the committee with your idea’s.
