On Sunday 19th November the second Intermediate event of the season was held in Roadstone Snooker Club. This event was scheduled to be held in Celbridge but due to flooding issues beyond their control SBI decided to move this event to Roadstone. SBI would like to thank everyone in Roadstone for holding this event at such notice and we thank all our players for their understanding.
There were 39 entries in this event and by the end of a fantastic days play we were down to the last 8 which were completed the following weekend which was also played in Roadstone.
There were plenty of fantastic matches but the last match of the day saw Chris Dunleavy miss match ball for a 3 nil win was turned around by Adrian Doran who ran out a 3-2 winner to make the last 8.
The Quarter finals got underway way at 2pm on Sunday 26th November
- Mark Gleeson beat Victor Mc Cormack 3-0 with breaks of 44 and 74
- Sean King best Brendan Thomas 3-1
- Stephen Reddington beat Ivory Fitzpatrick 3-1
- Tommy O’Donoghue beat Adrian Doran 3-1
Semi- Finals
- Mark Gleeson beat Sean King 3-1 with getting a break of 64.
- Tommy O’Donoghue beat Stephen Reddington 3-0 getting a break of 62
Final
- Tommy O’Donoghue beat Mark Gleeson 3-2
In 1st. Frame Tommy had a break of 62 and Mark followed by a break of 88 in Frame 2. Mark won 4th Frame and Tommy won the 5th Frame with some potting to win the final 3-2.
Thanks to Brendan Thomas who had tables in excellent condition and kept then in great order by brushing and blocking them all day long. Stephen Merrigan also supported during that day. It was a credit to Roadstone Club for the excellent facilities provided for This Intermediate Tournament.
