Snooker & Billiards Ireland held another Snooker in Schools project, on Friday the 13th of September for students from Mercy School in Wexford Town. This grass roots development program main objective, is to help develop the interest of our sport within schools and to grow the game.
SBI who are the governing body of Snooker and Billiards in the Republic of Ireland were delighted to have the Mercy School students in Wexford to avail of PJ and his SBI team coaching skills.
Mini Star Tables
The four miniature Star snooker tables used today provide more opportunities for SBI to introduce the game into schools, and at various events to help introduce new younger people to play the game while helping promote our sport going forward.
Learn the Basics
Mercy School Principal Eamon Codd invited Snooker & Billiards Ireland to hold this promotion day to teach over 100 of his young students, the basics of the game from the SBI National Snooker Coach PJ Nolan and his SBI Qualified Coaches Shane Gorman, Rodney Goggins and Aidan Doran.
Gold Medals
The boys and Girls learnt how to develop a good Bridge Hand, Stance and Grip through demonstrations by snooker coaches. We also had a final with every group and the winners received a gold medal.
Fun Day
Both the boys, girls and the all teachers said they really enjoyed the session and they learnt a lot and had fun doing it. The handouts with the technical information on the fundamentals and the info on local coach Rodney Goggins will encourage them to play more in the future. The Mercy School thanked the SBI team and Coaches for hosting the successful session.

Laura Doran who had helped to organised the day was also delighted with over 100 boys and girls learning alot about this beautiful sport. SBI would like to thank Shane Gorman, Shane Gorman, Adrain Doran for making this snooker in schools day a success today.
Snooker in Schools
