Snooker & Billiards Ireland held another Snooker in Schools project, on Thursday the 4th of October for students from Limerick Educate, Together Secondary School in Limerick . This grass roots development program main objective, is to help develop the interest of our sport within schools and to grow the game.
SBI who are the governing body of Snooker and Billiards in the Republic of Ireland were delighted to have the Limerick Educate, Together Secondary students avail of PJ and his SBI team coaching skills.
Mini Star Tables
The four miniature Star snooker tables used today provide more opportunities for SBI to introduce the game into schools, and at various events to help introduce new younger people to play the game while helping promote our sport going forward.
Learn the Basics
Limerick Educate Together Teacher Sammi Chang invited Snooker & Billiards Ireland to hold this promotion day to teach over 100 of the students, the basics of the game from the SBI National Snooker Coach PJ Nolan and his SBI Qualified Coaches Shane Gorman and Tommy O Donoghue.
Gold Medals
The boys and Girls learnt how to develop a good Bridge Hand, Stance and Grip through demonstrations by snooker coaches. We also had a final with every group and the winners received a gold medal.
Fun Day
Both the boys, girls and the all teachers said they really enjoyed the session and they learnt a lot and had fun doing it. The handouts with the technical information on the fundamentals and the info on local club St John’s CYMS in Limerick will encourage them to play more in the future. The Limerick Educate, Together Secondary School thanked the SBI team and Coaches for hosting the successful session.

SBI Chairman Tommy O Donoghue had helped to organised the day was also delighted with over 100 boys and girls learning alot about this beautiful sport. SBI would like to thank Shane Gorman and Tommy O Donoghue for making this snooker in schools day a success today.
Snooker in Schools
