Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) held a free Junior Snooker Summer Camp this week for our members in the SBI HQ in Carlow from the 15th – 18th of June. The Summer Camp was from 11am-4pm each day and it was hailed a big success.
Players who were starting out in the game to current International players to current National Champions were among the players who attended this camp.
SBI Summer Camps are held each year to allow our members to train with our National Coach PJ Nolan who is also a WPBSA Coach and Head of Coaching in the European Billiards & Snooker Association. Each student received Group Coaching, Coaching and a SBI Training Booklet.
The Players
Players from Cork, Galway, Tipperary, Dublin, Offally and Newbridge attended this 4 day Camp which was open to all under 21 players. The players could book 1 day, 2 days or all 4 days and they practiced on Star, Rasson or on the Mini Star Snoker tables during this summer camp.
The players practiced various routines and PJ outlined what each drill works on. A 10min Shoot Out was held each day for the players and on Day 1 and 2 it was Cathal Horgan from Youghal who won both events in style. Day 3 Lorcain O`Curraoin won the shoot out and on the final day it was Max Kennedy.
Latest Coaching Aids
PJ held session on Break-Building, Safety, Long Potting and Technique checks. The latest training aids were used to help to get the players on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in their delivery.
