Snooker & Billiards Ireland who are the National Govern body for Snooker & Billiards in the Republic of Ireland held a free snooker coaching Cue Zone as part of the 2023, European Week of Sport with our National Coach PJ Nolan in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow.
The Cue Zone was led by PJ who is also a qualified World Snooker Coach and the Head Coach of the European Snooker Association, he was joined by Rodney Goggins who is a SBI level 1 coach.
Players from All Around Ireland
Players from all around Ireland from Galway, Wexford, Dublin, Offally, Tipperary and Longford attended from 11am-4pm on the day. The players were shown how to come in on line, develop Stance, Grip, Tip to Ball Position, Smooth Cueing and Develop a Good Delivery Position.
SBI Practice Drills handouts were available to bring home for the players.
Big Success
It has hailed a big success from everyone on the day and hopefully picked up skills to improve their games. During the day PJ held a potting and match-play mini games, plus the players learnt tactical shots in getting snookers and how to aim and control cue ball.
Latest Coaching Aids
PJ also used the latest Coaching Aids like the Str8aim G-5, Mini Domin Eye, Master Doctor, Blade Cue, Chris Henry Balls and EBSA Coaching Balls to develop the players Approach, Stance, Cue Action, Grip, Address Position, Aiming and Delivery during the cue zone.
The 2023 European Week of Sport
European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the aim is to inspire Europeans to #BeActive Festival on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise and have more fun during a sport activity.

Star of the Day
Joe Shannon was the star of the day when he won both mini tournaments in style beating Max Kennedy and Mark Gleeson in the Finals.
