Mike Russell from England won the 2017 World Billiards LITEtask European Billiards Open in association with the Ivy Rooms & RIBSA in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on Wednesday the 24th of May.
The final was streamed all over the world via the ribsa web site and featured two of the best ever Billiard players. In the final it was Russell who won the final 1058 – 873 against Peter Gilchrist after a stunning display of world class billiards.
World Billiards Chairman Jim Leacy presented all the prizes to the winners and the perpetual cup to the 2017 Champion Mike Russell. He thanked all the players on a superb performance over the last 5 days in Carlow.
In the semi finals earlier in the day Mike Russell beat Natin Patel from India while Peter Gilchrist beat David Causier from England. David Causier had the tournament high break with a fantastic 603 break.
Wexford man John Kehoe refereed the final. The Total Prize Money was £4,000 and the Entry Fee was £80.00 per player.
