Colvin O’Brien from Carlow won the 2025 SBI National Snooker & Billiards Ireland Shoot Out in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Saturday the 20th of December 2025. In the final he beat Billy Kelly from Nenagh to claim the title in style.
Billy Kelly was incredible on the day to reach his first National final but Disability No.1 Colvin was unstopable in the final to claim the €700 winners prize.

34 players had entered the event and all were placed in the four events. The four events were played at 10am, 11am, 12 noon and 1pm. Four players qualified from each event. The Knock out saw 16 players battle it out for the National Title. Last year Frank Sarsfield won the event beating John Paul Kelly in Final.

This year it was National 14 Champion James Stewart O Reilly from Dublin and defending Champion Frank Sarsfield from Limerick who reached the semi finals with outstanding performances but it was Colvin who beat James and Billy beat Frank.

Shane Mason was the TD on the day and the event was a big success, referees Aonghus McAnally and Declan Cummins kept the event smooth all day.

The Guaranteed prize fund Winner received €700.00, Runner Up €400.00 and beaten Semi Finalists €200.00 each, QFinal €100 each, Last 16 €50 each.
- Tournament Format
- 8 Matches on per session
- The event is only Open to first 64 entries.
- All players will be guaranteed a minimum of four matches on the day. Four Separate Draws will be made to qualify the players for the knockout stage.
- 10 Minute Matches
- All matches will be one frame, with a time limit of 10 minutes per match.
- A beep will start the matches in the venue, and a 3,2,1 beep will end all matches.

A recommended 15sec Shot Clock was used but if player trying to delay the clock, they will receive a YELLOW warning. On receiving a second warning in the event a player will forfeit the match.
