11yr old Liam Dunne from Edenderry SC made it the perfect Junior Double when he won the 2023 SBI National Under 14 Snooker Championship in SBI HQ in Carlow on Saturday the 13th of May. Players from Galway, Newbridge, Youghal, Longford, Dublin, Edenderry and Kerry battled it out for this prestigious title.
In the final Liam beat Joe Shannon from Longford in a great final 3 frames to 1 to claim the title. The 2023 Final featured the 2022 and 2023 Irish U-12 Champions. The defending U-14 Champion for this title was Max Kennedy from Galway who won title in 2022.
The line up was Max Kennedy from Galway, Aaron Donnelly from Newbridge, Oscar Ellison Gibbons from Dublin, Liam Dunne from Edenderry, Cathal Horgan from Youghal, William Shannon from Galway, Aaron Horan from Kerry, Joe Shannon from Longford and they all played great on the day.
In the Q-Finals: Aaron Donnelly had a brilliant win over Max, Liam beat Oscar in another decider, Cathal impressed in his first event while Joe was in great form to be Aaron Horgan.

Both Semi-finals were excellent quality with great potting and good tactical snooker, end of the day it was Joe Shannon and Liam Dunne in fantastic form and won to reach the 2023 National U-14 final.

National Coach PJ Nolan was the TD on the day and he was very impressed with the talent on show. The tournament High Break went to Joe Shannon.
The season High Break medal also went to Joe Shannon with the top break during the season. SBI would like to thank all the players for entering and to Referee Conor Doyle for making it a great day of junior Irish snooker.
