No.1 seed Liam Dunne from Edenderry SC won the second Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) Under 14 Ranking event of the season on Saturday the 9th of November in the SBI HQ Carlow.
Eight players entered the event today and our National Coach was very impressed with the young talent on show.
In a repeat of Event 1 final, Liam beat James Stewart O Reilly from ALSAA Club in Dublin 3 frames to 1 in a high quality final. James won the opening frame but the Offaly school-boy won the next three frames to claim his second title of the season. Luke Mundy had the high break of the event with a 27.
PJ Nolan’s 147academy will be the title sponsor for all the Junior Tours this season and it was a fantastic day of Junior snooker with all the young stars of the future playing some great shots and gaining National experience on the table.
All eyes are on gaining ranking points which will help qualify them for International events later in the year. Both semi finals went to deciders and all four players played excellent snooker today.
This was the second event on the 2024-2025 SBI 14’s Snooker Tour. SBI are holding four U-14 ranking events plus a National 14’s Championships this season. All ranking events will be played on the same day as the 21’s so start time for all matches will 11.30am.
