RIBSA qualified seven level 1 Snooker Coaches in Carlow on Saturday and Sunday the 8th and 9th of October at a Coaching Ireland level 1 Education Course in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club.
Eric Morley from Mayo, Tony Thorpe from Newbridge, Ger Murray from Edenderry, Declan Quinn from Edenderry, Jim Leacy from Carlow, Adrian McMahon from Laois and Jim Carrick from Newbridge attended this course from 10am to 6pm each day.
Irish Professional Sports Coach Liam Moggan from Coaching Ireland and RIBSA National Coach PJ Nolan held this two day training course for RIBSA members who have completed the Intro Level course in the past. This level course covered the coaching skills in helping the coaches identify what is needed to start training players to a level 1 standard.
All the coaches were paid up members of the Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association for the 2016 / 2017 season. The Coaches will also need to attend a sport partnership 3hr basic awareness course and attend the ISC Children’s Officer Course that are organised by their local sports authority through the Irish Sports Council. The coaches will also need to be Garda vetted before being presented with the Level 1 Accreditation Certificate.
RIBSA Chairman Jim Leacy was delighted with the course and thanked Liam Moggan and Coaching Ireland for making the course very successful. He said with seven new RIBSA coaches from all around Ireland under the watchful eye of our National Coach the sport is in good hands.
If you would like to attend the next RIBSA coaching course with PJ Nolan, you will need to download the coaching form from the download section on www.ribsa.ie and post into the RIBSA office.
