Ireland’s Leone Crowley from Cork reached the final of the 2022 European U-18 Snooker Championships here in the Deflin Hotel in Albania today
The current Irish National U-16, U-18, U-21 Champion played outstanding snooker to beat a number of the top juniors from all across Europe this week and he should be very proud of himself.
Today in the European Final Leone was beaten 4-1 by Liam Davies from Wales in a high standard final which was streamed all over the world.
In the semi-final Leone beat highly rated and former U-16 World IBSF Champion Ben Mertens from Belgium in a great match.
In the last 32 Leone beat Kledio KaÇi from Albania 3-1, in the last 16 Leone beat Jack Borwick from Scotland 3-0 and in the Q-Final Leone beat the No. 1 seed Liam Pullen from England 3-2.
Other Irish players performed well in the event with Alex Currid from Wexford and James O Connell from Cork also qualified for the knock out stages. Aaron Smith and Jack O Brien also played great snooker and were unlucky not to qualify.
In the last 32 Alex Currid lost to Bulcsú Révész from Hungary while James O Connell lost to Antoni Kowalski from Poland.
SBI would like to congratulate Leone on his success in becoming only the second junior from Ireland to reach the U-18 European Final after Aaron Hill and to all our Under 18 players as they were all great ambassadors for our sport and association.
