On Friday evening the 23rd October 2026 during the ‘Nenagh Open’ tournament taking place in the New Institute Snooker club, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, we had local player Brendan O Donoghue playing Wexford player Rodney Goggins in the SBI, Event 1- Pride Craft Cup,
SBI Senior Tour (Over 40’s) 2026/2027, that was initially played on Sunday, September 6th in the Snooker Academy in Carlow. With plenty of supporters and players alike staying on from the Nenagh Open, witnessing this SBI event final.
In the opening frame after some safety exchanges, it was Rodney who knocked in a 71 break and this secured him the 1st frame.
Brendan responded with a 60 break in the 2nd frame to register his 1st frame on the scoreboard.
In frame 3, Rodney developed a 44-point lead with 5 reds remaining and after he failed to gain good position on the black, he chose to try and snooker Brendan behind the pink. Brendan knocked in a superb long red and countered with a 35 break up to the green. After a brief safety exchange on the green, Rodney failed to make contact on a attempted thin clip on the green from distance and Brendan was gifted a free ball. He took the black as his free ball and cleared up to the pink to steal that frame.
Into frame 4 and Rodney started off with a 25 break and soon followed it up later with a 34 break. These contributions were enough for him to win the 4th frame and force a decider.
Into the 5th frame , after initial safety exchanges a stalemate was soon reached and both players agreed to a re-rack.
Off Brendan’s break off shot, Rodney knocked in a great opening long red and made another 71 break and with 4 reds remaining Rodney failed to pot his next red, Brendan then
offered his hand in defeat .
