Wexford man Rodney Goggins won the first RIBSA Open Handicap tournament of the season when he beat Daniel O Regan from 3 frames to 2 in a superb final. The event was held in The Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow and twenty one players entered the event. Young Josh Boileau won the high break prizw with a superb 103 Break. These events are open to all our members and the RIBSA Handicap system was from Scratch to + 48 with Rodney receiving €160.00, Runner Up €80.00, Semi Finalists €40.00 each. and the High Break prize is €40.00

The RIBSA Handicap System Rules are the following:
1 to 10 will be Scratch
( Players who have achieved 1-10 on the either of last two year senior rankings plus all International Senior players for the past 7 years will also be scratch )
11 to 20 will be + 14 players
21 to 32 will be +28 players
33 to 40 will be +35 players
The Top Handicap will be + 48 players
RIBSA will decide on each players Handicap if they are not on last year’s Rankings. The Entry Fee will be Under 16 € 15.00 and Over 16 €25.00 and the Closing Date is 10am on the morning with the Draw made at 10.15am and Start time is 10.30am
All International players who have represented Ireland from Under 19 Level upwards will be awarded a maximum of +28 Handicap.
The format for the event will be best of 5 frames in all matches including the final and this event is Limited to the first 40 entries.
Play starts at 10.30am with a roll off and on format and the Prize fund will be announced on the day and displayed in the Club by 1pm.
