Rodney Goggins from Liam Mellows SC Wexford won the Snooker & Billiards Ireland second Irish Re-Open event on Saturday 26th of September in the Ivy Rooms SC in Carlow.
At the end of the day it was Rodney Goggins who claimed the title with a fantastic display of break building to beat John Sutton from Potters SC Drogheda to lift the title and the €400.00 first prize. Davy Morris and Rodney Goggins had the joint high break in the event with a 131.
All the 8 Qualifiers John Sutton, Richie Flynn, Stephen Bateman, Eric Pei, Michael Judge, Dane Daly Mulpeter, David Morris and Rodney Goggins. were prented with a new official SBI Black Polo Shirt that we will be used next season in Snooker & Billiards Ireland Events. The polo shirts will also be on sale through the web site in the coming weeks. The Knock Out Draw was made at 10am in front of the players and the Q-Finals were held before the re-brand launch of Snooker & Billiards Ireland.

All three matches were excellent with Morris, Sutton, Goggins and Flynn all playing superbly to win their match and set up two good semi-finals.

In both semi-finals after the Launch Sutton was in full power to beat Richie Flynn while Wexford man Rodney Goggins and Davy Morris had a great battle but it was Rodney who won to reach the final with a great win.

In the final Rodney won the opening frame to go 1-nil up, John won the second to level match at 1-1, Rodney won the third to lead 2-1, Sutton fought back to level again at 2-2, Rodney then made a fantastic 131 to level the high break in the event to go 3-2 up and a missed pink in the middle in the next saw the Wexford man win the next frame and match for an excellent 4-2 Win. Well done Rodney and unlucky John
The Guaranteed prize fund was: Winner €400.00, Runner Up €200.00, Semi – Finalists €100.00 each and Q-finalist will receive €50.00 each.

Planned Test Event
Snooker & Billiards Ireland had planned two test event after the COVID-19 Crisis put a halt to our sport in March. This event was played within the strict RIBSA COVID-19 protocols. All the players had their temperature taken when they arrived at the venue.
Only the 8 players were allowed in the venue plus the TD and a roaming Referee. Two nominated tables were used for each group. During the qualifying event the event was played in groups with four groups playing on the Saturday and four groups playing on the Sunday. No Supporters or family were allowed in the venue. Each player had their own equipment on a designated side of the table. The Equipment was sterilised after each session.

Members should be aware that these restrictions are not going to last forever, but they must live within them and be patient while they are in place.
