Chairman John Doherty and Council member Breda Doherty attended a one day seminar at the Garda College in Templemore Co Tipperary this week. The seminar was to explain the changes and responsibilities of governing bodies with the new legislation coming into law later this year with the new Child Protection Act. Also covered was the new Parental Consent form for junior players under the age of 18.
The Garda Vetting Unit (GVU) is moving to E-Vetting after the new Legislation comes in to law. The second half of the day was spent going through the procedure for E-Vetting, which should speed up the process. It is hoped to get people vetted within 7 days when it is done electronically as opposed to the 19 weeks it took some time ago.
