EBSA Prague Day 4 – Four players stay unbeaten

Day four of the 2015 EBSA European Snooker Championship here in the ” Top Hotel ” in Prague has just finished for the Irish team. We now have four Irish players unbeaten in the Championship after Brendan O Donoghue, Greg Casey, Keith Sheldreck and Alen Matic all won again today.

Brendan O Donoghue was involved in a real battle before beating Danni Bismoot from Israel with top breaks of 50 and 77 in a 4 frames to 2 victory. Greg Casey impressed again and was in fine form in beating Bratislav Krastev from Bulgaria 4 frames to 1.

Finally John O Sullivan was involved in the match of the day against Adam Stefanów from Poland who is the new National Champion. The Kilkenny man fought hard to win the opening frame but his opponent hit back with a 81 break to level the match, again the Irish man played a great frame to go back in the lead 2-1 but Adam then made a 101 break to go 3-1 and then won the next frame on the pink to win 4-2. John played great and is confident about his match in the morning after the match tonight.

Masters Event

Alen Matic played great in beating Doron Lavie from Israel 3 frames to nil and he is really hitting a nice ball at the moment.  Keith Sheldreck eased passed Darko Hojan from Croatia 3 frames to nil with a good display. Finally Tom O Drisccoll suffered his first defeat tonight when he was beaten 3 frames to 2 by Jani Kananen from Finland after his opponent had a 74 break in the deciding frame.

Ladies Event

Ronda Sheldreck and Michelle French were beaten again today when Ronda was beaten by Claudia Weber from Switzerland 3 frames to nil while Michelle was beaten by Melissa Eens from Belgium 3 frames to nil but Michelle was unlucky as two games were decided on the black .

PJ Nolan said ‘’ the players were again awesome and win or lose all the players are fighting for every point and I cannot ask for more as the standard is very high in all the groups this year.
