Number 1 seed Alex Currid from Liam Mellows in Wexford won the third Snooker & Billiards Ireland under 21 National Snooker Ranking event of the season in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Sunday the 5th of February.
This event featured players from Wexford, Cork, Meath, Waterford and Tipperary and in the final Alex beat Ronan McGuirk from R&R SC 3 frames to 0 to lift the title.
In the semi-finals, Alex Currid beat Noel Gleeson from Nenagh 3-0 in a great quality match and in the other, it was Ronan McGuirk who beat James O Connell from Cork in a excellent contest winning the decider 3-2.
SBI National Coach PJ Nolan was the TD on the day and he thanked referee Conor Doyle and all the players on performing so good on the day. He congratulated Alex on his third victory in a row this season to extend his lead as Irish No.1. PJ wished Alex and Ronan and the other Irish juniors good luck next month at the European Championships in Malta.

Finally big congratulations to Alex on the victory and it promises to be a great exciting finish to the Irish U-21 Snooker season with the final ranking event on 19th of March and National Championships on 15th of April.
