Day three here at the All Ireland Snooker Club Champions at the Gleneagle Hotel and St Matthews opened their account this morning in their Quarter Final match defeating the Dublin League side from the Spawell Darcy McGees A by three matches to nil.
New Institute from Tipperary started well against QE1, but in the end the men from Belfast had enough to progress.
Play started at 9.30am with three matches started out of the three Quarter Finals
St Matthews 3 – 1 Darcy McGees A
Celbridge 3 – 0 Darcy McGees B
New Institute 2 – 3 QE1
Q Club Wicklow 3 – 0 Pot Black Tyrone.
Semi Final Draw was made at 12 Noon and it set up two fantastic matches as the Battle of Belfast between St Matthews and QE1 was one side of the draw and the defending champions Celbridge drew Q Club Wicklow who defeated Patrick Wallace’s Pot Black club from Cookstown Co. Tyrone.
The Semi-Finals are set for 1.30pm.
QE1 3 – 1 St Matthews
