Nenagh’s New Institute Snooker club in County Tipperary, Ireland is hosting the 48-player competition which will run through today until the final on Monday.
This year’s tournament is set to be the biggest ever with players from 10 different countries competing for the €20,000 prize fund. 10 ex-pros are competing along with top amateurs from around the world. It promises to be an exciting event.
Tournament organiser Andy McCloskey says it has one of the biggest prize pools in Irish amateur snooker history.
“Brendan O’Donoghue has been running it now for the last couple of years and myself and Brendan kind of teamed up during the year and said we’d try and make it as big as we could in a way.
“We have the backing from the IBSF, who are the International Billiards and Snooker Federation and Snooker & Billiards Ireland.
“It’s going to be one of the biggest prize fund in Irish amateur history.”

Capacity is limited to 60 spectators at the New Institute but games are being streamed on the OX Billiards YouTube Channel.
