The 3rd tournament in the Super Seniors series took place today in the excellent Roadstone SC in Dublin. Opening the event TD Tony Thorpe paid tribute to former Chairman Ger Murray one of RBSA/SBI’s longest serving committee members who sadly passed away on Tuesday. All in attendance were delighted to take part in a minute’s applause in honour of Ger and his huge contribution to Irish snooker over 30+ years.
Tony also thanked the Roadstone club for agreeing to host the tournament at short notice.
After some excellent play it came down to the usual suspects in the Semi’s. Ernie McMullen V. Brian McPhee and Frank Sarsfield v. Tommy Murphy. Frank played some excellent match snooker to get the better of Tommy by 3 frames to 0 in the first semi. In the final Frank will meet Ernie who beat Brian in titanic struggle by 3 frames to 2.
The final was a one-side affair with Frank Sarsfield hitting top form. Ernie had no answer to Franks precision play and breaks of 41, 86 and 107 took Frank to the line.
The high break prize was also won by Frank with a magnificent 107 in the final.
