Snooker & Billiards Ireland held a free snooker coaching Cue Zone with our National Coach PJ Nolan in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Sunday the 25th of September.
The Cue Zone was part of the 2022, European Week of Sport and it was held from 11am-4pm with PJ who is also a qualified World Snooker Coach and the Head Coach of the European Snooker Association.
Players aged from 9yrs to 21yrs from Cavan, Cork and Carlow attended the day and hopefully picked up skills to improve their games. During the day PJ held a potting and match-play mini games, plus learnt tactical shots in getting snookers and how to aim and control cue ball.
The players were shown how to come in on line, develop Stance, Grip, Tip to Ball Position, Smooth Cueing and Develop a Good Delivery Position. SBI Practice Drills handouts were available to bring home plus medals were awarded to the players. It has hailed a big success from everyone on the day.
PJ also used the latest Coaching Aids like the Str8aim G-5, Master Doctor, Blade Cue, Chris Henry Balls and EBSA Coaching Balls to develop the players Approach, Stance, Cue Action, Grip, Address Position, Aiming and Delivery during the cue zone.

European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the aim is to inspire Europeans to #BeActive Festival on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more.
Being Active doesn’t mean having to be part of a sports club, a gym, running marathons or cycling across Europe. Being Active can be running around playing with your children, grabbing a walk with work colleagues on your lunch break, going outside and exploring the great outdoors – whatever gets you moving to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle.
