Some misleading information appeared on a social media website last weekend which RIBSA would like to clarify. Of the players travelling to Malta, only the 4 Masters players will receive funding from the Masters Player’s Fund, which will be added to by RIBSA to cover their flights. Their accommodation will be paid for by the players.
Of the 6 senior players travelling to Malta, only 4 players will receive funding from the Senior Player’s Fund which will be added to by RIBSA to cover their flights. Their accommodation will be paid for themselves. The third senior players team will receive no funding from the Player’s Fund or RIBSA as they requested to be considered for a third team.
The Junior players travelling to Malta will have their flights paid for by RIBSA as they do not receive any prize money at tournaments. They will pay for their own accommodation in Malta.
PJ Nolan will be travelling as National Coach and will be funded by RIBSA where his flight and part of his accommodation will be paid. The referees travelling to Malta to work will receive funding from RIBSA to cover 60% of the cost of their flights.
RIBSA Chairman John Doherty will be travelling to Malta for the first 6 days of the tournament but will be receiving no funding of any kind. He will be paying for his own flights and accommodation while in Malta.
