2011 Home Internationals

The Republic Of Ireland Billiards & Snooker players competed in the 2011 Home Internationals in Pontins North Wales last week.

RIBSA competed in the Senior Billiards, Senior Snooker, Masters Snooker, Ladies Snooker, Under 19 Snooker, Under 16 Snooker and we won one title over the week in winning the Billiards title.

Billiards

The RIBSA Billiards A team players won their event beating England in the final match to secure the victory to retain the title for Aidan Murray and Larry Drennan.B team players Wayne Doyle and Joe Doheny also played great billiards to win the shield event.

Senior Snooker

The senior team had a good win over Northern Ireland and a draw against England, but defeats against Scotland and Wales cost them the title.

U-19’s Snooker

The Under 19’s had a hard event with a 9-9 draw against tournament favourites Scotland the highlight of the event but big defeats to Wales, England cost them the title.

The Under 16’s had great wins over Wales and Northern Ireland but lost key frames in losing to England and Scotland.

Ross is a real Stars of the future

RIBSA Under 16 Captain Ross Doyle from Monkstown SC had a superb event winning all four matches playing number 1 on the team.

Ross beat Micahel Kane ( N Ireland 3-0), beat Ross Muir ( Scotland 2-1) beat Ryhs Thomas ( Wales 3-0 ) and beat James Cahill ( England 2-1)

Masters Snooker

The Masters played great snooker and went into their final match against England with a chance of the title but a 3-5 frames defeat cost them the title
