A team of 8 players along with a small group of supporters travelled from Wales for the 3rd staging of this event. Snooker& Billiards Ireland were delighted to host the tournament at their Academy of Excellence in Graiguecullen, Carlow on Saturday July 6.
The Irish team was led by captain Ernie McMullen along with Jim Carrick, Brendan Thomas, Patsy Farrell, Tommy Murphy, Nicky Ryan, Oliver Martyn and Freddie Chute.
After a day of snooker team Wales emerged victorious and won the event by 53 frames to 27. Wales team captain John Mills accepted the new cup presented sponsored by Louise from the terry Griffiths SC in Llanelli. He said he was delighted with the win and promised to defend the title vigorously in Wales next year.
TD for the tournament was SBI national secretary Tony Thorpe, ably assisted by referees Neil Shanahan and Shane Mason. Tony congratulated the winning Wales team for a very strong performance. Tony also paid tribute to national coach PJ Nolan for all his efforts and help in organising the event including his daughter Shannon who kept us fed and watered throughout the day.
All are now looking forward to the 2025 event in Wales.
