Two in a row for Murphy

The 5th Senior Ranking Event on the RIBSA Senior Series was played in Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow over the weekend. In the final Robert Murphy (Monkstown SC) beat Robert Redmond (ALSAA) five frames to nil in what was a high quality scoring final with Robert having breaks of 58, 53 and 54 in the final.

Robert dedicated his victory to his Gran-dad who passed away this weekend and this title was for his mum and family at home.In the Semi Finals Robert Redmond (ALSAA) beat Johnny Williams (Maynooth) 4 frames to 1 and Robert Murphy (Monkstown) beat Colm Gilcreest (Celbridge) four frames to three in the other semi final.

Colm Gilcreest beat Current Number 1 Rodney Goggins from the 147 Club in Wexford 3 frames to 1 in the Q-finals but it was only Murphy who closed the gap for the number 1 spot when Devaney beat number 2 seed Mario Fernandez 3-1, Johnny Williams beat No.3 seed Phil Arnold 3-2 and Nigel Power beat No.4 seed Vincent Muldoon 3-1

There was also a number of great results for our junior players with Jason Devaney beating Mario Fernandez 3-1 and Daniel O Regan beating Martin McCrudden 3-2 and the future looks good for Irish snooker.
