Super Senior National Finalists

On Sunday 26 April 2026, saw the 7th tournament on the Super Senior’s calendar. The venue was the superb Newbridge CYMS. Ed Donnelly was on hand all day and kept the tables in excellent condition throughout the event.

21 players competed in this event with top seed Brendan Thomas in attendance.

In the last 32 matches, there was wins for Ernie Mc Mullen V Paul Arnold , newcomer Tony Seymour got off to a flying start in his first super seniors’ event winning 3/0 over Michael Hannigan Simon Scott V Tony Delaney Stephen Merrigan V Jim Carrickand Tommy Gleeson V Anthony Flanagan who won all their respective matches 3-0. Stephen Merrigan also progressed, with a 3-1 victory over local man Jim Carrick.

The last 16, Brendan Thomas, Nicholas Ryan, Tony Seymour, Frank Sarsfield, Brian Mc Phee, Mark Tuite, Creg Marks and Tommy Gleeson all progressed to the Quater Finals.

Quarter Finals

  • Brendan Thomas (3) V Nicholas Ryan (1)
  • Tony Seymour (1) V Frank Sarsfield (3)
  • Mark Tuite (3) V Brian Mc Phee (0)
  • Creg Marks (2)  V Paudie Kelly (3)

In the Quarters Frank Sarsfield had an 82 break

The Semi Finals were hard fought matches Brendan Thomas taking on Frank Sarsfield this match could have went either way Frank was 2 nil up and looking like winning 3/0 but Brendan Thomas had some luck on the Blue and Pink to make it 2/1 Brendan again showing his fighting ability took the 4th  Frank secured the last with some ease. The display of safety and potting was excellent from both Frank & Brendan

In the Second Semi final Mark Tuite played Paudie Kelly once again the snooker on display was superb  the quality of the potting and safety was superb. A super clarence from Paudie Brown to Black brough the match to a decider. This was nip and tuck and it looked like Paudie was going to prevail, but the Pink sat on the Jaw and allowed Mark an easy pot to take the frame and Match.

The Final will be between Frank Sarsfield & Mark Tuite one not to be missed.

A special mention to the club at the club who provided sandwiches for every one on the day.
