Snooker & Billiards Ireland held another Snooker in Schools project, on Wednesday the 7th of January 2026 for students from O’Connells Secondary School North Richmond Street in Dublin. This grass roots development program main objective, is to help develop the interest of our sport within schools and to grow the game.
SBI who are the governing body of Snooker and Billiards in the Republic of Ireland were delighted to have O’Connell School students avail of PJ and his SBI team coaching skills.

Mini Star Tables
The four miniature Star snooker tables used today provide more opportunities for SBI to introduce the game into schools, and at various events to help introduce new younger people to play the game while helping promote our sport going forward.

Learn the Basics
O’Connell Secondary School Andréa Murphy and VP Mary Timmons invited Snooker & Billiards Ireland to hold this promotion day to teach their students, the basics of the game from the SBI National Snooker Coach PJ Nolan and his SBI Qualified Coach Shane Gorman.

Gold Medals
The boys learnt how to develop a good Bridge Hand, Stance and Grip through demonstrations by snooker coaches. We also had a final with every group and the winners received a gold medal.

Fun Day
The boys and all teachers said they really enjoyed the session and they learnt a lot and had fun doing it. The handouts with the technical information on the fundamentals and the info on local clubs in Dublin will encourage them to play more in the future. O’Connell Secondary School thanked the SBI Coaches for hosting the successful session.

SBI Thank you
Sandra Ellison mother of Oscar who himself is a Junior International and a student in O’Connell School had helped organised the day. Both were delighted with the boys learning alot about this beautiful sport. SBI would like to thank Sandra, Oscar, PJ and Shane Gorman for making this snooker in schools day a success today.

Snooker in Schools
