SBI U-21 – EBSA Qualifier Groups

Snooker & Billiards Ireland made the draw for the qualification process for our Under 21 Players for the 2022 U-21 European Championships will be held on Saturday the 29th of January in the SBI HQ in Carlow play starts at 10.30am and it promises to be a high standard event.

The event will be played in 2 Groups of 5 with each match the best of 3 frames with the top two in each group qualfying for the European Championships in Poland.

PLEASE NOTE: Groups will be decided on 1. Matches Won, 2. Frames Difference and 3. Head to Head. PJ Nolan will be the TD on the day.

2022 EBSA Championships

The European Championship will be in held in Lublin, Poland from 1st to 14th April 2022.  Full information and details on the U-16, U-18, U-21 and Mixed Championships. dates of each event are contained in the attached document below.

SBI Qualifier

SBI have announced that 5 players will qualify for this U-21 Championship in Poland and SBI will run a qualifying event to select the Irish players on the 29th of January.

SBI have announced that the current 2021 National U-21 Snooker Champion Ross Bulman from Cork will receive an automatic spot and the four other qualifying spots for the 2022 Championship in Poland will go to the four semi-finalists on the day.

The players for the Under 21’s qualifier must be U-21 on 31st December 2021.

Covid-19

“In keeping with SBI’s policy of following all government and Sport Ireland advice with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the light of the recent changes in protocol, a Certificate of Vaccination or a Certificate of Recovery are no longer required as a criterion of entering SBI competitions.”

Second Junior Event

This will be the second Junior event in our new home of Irish Snooker and it promises to be an exciting event from our talented players. SBI wish all the players good luck in the event

If any U-21 player would like to enter, they should text in their entry to 0852428701 before 6pm on the 28th of January 2022.

Entry Fee

The entry is €15.00 and can be paid on the day to the TD.

The Draw

The draw will be done at 10.30am in the SBI HQ. The TD on the day will be our National Coach PJ Nolan. The action will begin at 11am.

Dress Code

  • The dress code for the SBI Qualifier is:
  • Dark Shoes (no runners)
  • Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
  • One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat.
  • Waistcoats must be worn for all matches.
  • National Waistcoats are not permissible
  • Or Official SBI Polo Shirt on sale in Academy @€25.00

Format

Depending on numbers the format will be decided on knock out or groups format on the day by SBI.
