Snooker & Billiards Ireland held the first of four International Snooker Camps for our players playing in the 2026 Celtic Challenge and Home Internationals in Leeds. SBI Camps to allow our players train in a camp with our National Coach PJ Nolan who is also a WPBSA Coach and Head of Coaching in the European Billiards & Snooker Association.

Players in attendance were from our National 14’s, 16’s, 21’s and Super Seniors teams who will be repersenting SBI in the International events in Leeds and Wales. Star junior on the day was James Stewart OReilly who was in fantastic scoring form to win the scoring event on the day.
We also held a match event and it was Aaron Donnelly who won the event with quality match-play snooker. Paul Kellett won the Shoot-Out with good play and beat James Stewart OReilly in the final.

Training Camps
Our SBI National Coach held sessions on Break-Building, Safety, Long Potting and Technique checks. All the players will receive a training program booklet with practice drills plus a sports phycology booklet to help them work on their mind fitness.

Training Aids
The latest training aids were used in the camps to enhance the sessions like the Mini Domin Eye, Master Doctor, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get them on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in their delivery.

It promises to be an exciting period of training for our players and we hope all the players will enjoy the camps. Three more National Team Camps have been arranged for training from 11am-4pm each day in the Academy in Carlow.

On 2nd August, Mind Coach Denis Coen will attend to support the players in a session to improve their mind set.
