This week The Republic of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association held a summer snooker coaching camp in the Newbridge CYMS Snooker Club with our National Coach PJ Nolan. All the players were put through their paces with a number of cue ball training exercises and PJ worked on fine tuning their playing technqique.
Newbridge CYMS last season produced top junior player Charlie Sweeney who finished Number 1 in the Under 16 rankings and won the National Under 16 Championship and reached the Under 18 and Under 19 National Finals.
Josh Boileau finished Number 1 on the U-21 Rankings and won the Under 21 & U-19 Championships. He also reached two major International finals when he reached the European U-21 final in Romania and the World IBSF final in UAE to be ranked No.1 in the World Junior rankings. The next future Newbridge stars impressed PJ during the camp and with hard work they can follow in their footsteps to glory in the game
Each player was recorded and received a DVD of their action from the camp to study more at home. The players received a sports psychology CD to help them for the upcoming season. All the players were excellent and listened very hard and by the end of the camp improved their playing techniques and cue ball control.
RIBSA would like to thank all the players for attending the summer camp and wish them good luck next season. A big thank you also goes to the James and Newbridge CYMS for the excellent playing conditions during the summer camp.
Well done to all the players”!!!!
