RIBSA are contacting all clubs this week in relation to promoting Ladies Snooker Week in Ireland from the 1st-8th of March.
Since Fin Ruane has been appointed PR Officer for RIBSA his goal is and continues to be to help bring awareness of our sport of snooker to the Irish public. Our association works tirelessly to promote the game from junior lever through to senior and onto master events.
One tour which RIBSA are now heavily concentrating on is our Ladies tour, once again Ireland has in it’s past produced some wonderful Ladies players and our current national champion Michelle Sherwin is no exception to the rule. However in recent times Ladies snooker has suffered with dwindling numbers but with hard work and effort RIBSA are determined to grow the Ladies game and we are confident that Ireland can produce lady players of exceptional talent to compete at European and World Amateur snooker events.
To help kick start our campaign to reinvigorate Ladies snooker in Ireland RIBSA have confirmed that this coming March 1st – 8th will be National Ladies Snooker Week. We are asking clubs throughout Ireland to offer their snooker facilities free of charge to any interested lady players of all ages during that week. Promoting Ladies snooker in this way may in turn encourage Ladies to take up snooker and offer them an insight into a sport that they may have never considered playing.
Ladies Free Coaching Day with PJ Nolan
RIBSA will also be hosting a free Ladies snooker coaching day with our National and World snooker coach PJ Nolan March 14th at the Newbridge CYMS from 11am – 4pm.
RIBSA are prepared to offer clubs who are willing to participate in National Ladies Snooker Week every support and help needed to promote the event. The future of Ladies snooker in Ireland is in our hands and with the continued support of you the club owner we can offer lady players the facilities to play our sport and the opportunity to play and enjoy the game of snooker.
If any club is willing to take part in this Ladies Week they should contact RIBSA
