On 8th June, the Irish billiards and snooker community come together in a rare team challenge match in billiards to celebrate Larry Codd’s life.
This match will be played between 8 billiard players and 8 snooker players in two sessions of billiards. It will be held in the SBI Academy in Carlow.
Larry Codd was a four-time Irish billiards champion in the 1960s and 1970s. Originally from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford later in life moved to Ferns, Co Wexford. He helped a lot of snooker and billiards players around the country. He was also a referee for ribsa.
Larry would have played a lot in Wexford, Waterford and Carlow. It didn’t make a difference whether or not what standard you were at, he tried helping you. It wasn’t uncommon to talk to Larry and he would tell you he was at 4 different clubs the previous week. He loved cue sports and he loved sharing his ideas.
Not only a great coach but a lovely man.
