WORLD Snooker is on its way to Ireland and the ‘International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and the Republic of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association (RIBSA) will present the World Amateur Team Championships and the World Amateur ‘6 Red’s’ Championships in the Ivy Rooms in Carlow from Sunday the 29th of September – Sunday the 6th of October with plenty of Cork involvement.
Carlow based IBSF President Jim Lacey said “The IBSF is pleased to acknowledge the great work that has been done by the Republic Of Ireland Billiards & Snooker Association in
preparing to host these championships. This is a tremendous undertaking by any Association. There is a huge amount of costs and work involved in the preparation and running of
such a programme of events. All of the members of the Irish Association must to be congratulated”.
The official opening ceremony will take place on Sunday the 29th of September at 8pm in the Dolmen Hotel in Carlow. Play will commence on Monday the 30th of September with both the World Team Championships and the World 6 Red’s Championship continuing throughout the week up until the knockout stages on Friday the 4th of October. Saturday and Sunday will see the last 16 and last 32 matches played out until Sundays World Championship Finals.
