On Saturday the 29th of August the first SBI ranking event of the season was held with the SBI 16’s Ranking Event 1 ‘’ Irish Masters Cup ‘’ in the SBI HQ in Carlow. The TD is PJ Nolan, and the referees were Daniel Keenan and Conor Doyle.
James Stewart O Reilly from Dublin won the event to start the season with a bang and lifted the Irish Masters Cup in style beating Joe Shannon from Longford in a high-quality final which was refereed by Daniel Keenan who was officiating in his first ranking final. James went 2-0 up only to see the current 16’s and 21’s National Champion come back to win the next 2 frames before james won the decider to win the title.

The high break in this event went to Joe Shannon with a superb 55 Break with Luke Mundy from Cavan CYMS with a 46 break.

This season Snooker & Billiards Ireland will be holding four 16’s Snooker ranking events and a National 16’s Snooker Championship.

This season will be holding four 14’s ranking events and a National Championships. We will be also four events and a National 12’s, 14’s, 16’s, 18’s and 21’s plus a Junior Shoot Out.

Start time for all matches will 9.45am. The Entry Fees for all junior events is set at €10.00 each.

Snooker & Billiards Ireland are bringing in new rules regarding our SBI Junior events for the 2026 – 2027 Season.
New Junior Tournament Rules
- There will be a maximum of 10min breaks between matches
- There will be a maximum of 3min breaks between frames.
- Players will receive a warning first, next time, they would lose frame (s)
- Max 3 Miss Rule – This will be 2 Put Backs
- Players needing more than 3 Snookers on the Colours will have to concede frame.
- The latest start time for a ranking final will be 6pm
If SBI cannot complete a junior event within this set of rules on the day, we will have no choice in bringing in the following rules.
Keep all matches best of 5 but all deciding frames in all matches, will be a best of 3 re-spot black or change all matches to the best of 3 frames including final.
Closing Dates
The closing date for all SBI events will 1pm on the Thursday before the event. The Draw will be done automatically on the system with match times and displayed on the web site. Players should be aware that all entries are through the online system
Age Limit
The SBI Age limit will be the 31st of August 2027 for all SBI junior events. All members must remember international criteria may vary for events. SBI will go down rankings to qualify players who meet that particular age deadline.
Example: 16’s: A player who’s 17th birthday is on or before 31st August 2027 WILL NOT be able to enter the SBI 16’s events in the 2026 /27 season

How to Enter
All players will need to register for the new season by paying their SBI registration / membership or Renew their membership for the 2026-2027 season.
SBI Registration runs from 1st August to the 31st of August each season

Junior Membership is for all Under 21’s – €30.00

Snookerscores.net is a widely used website by multiple governing bodies in Europe and the rest of the world. CLICK HERE
As a player you will be able to see all your results including high breaks and frame scores in order to monitor your performance. To use this website each player and club will need to create a profile on the snookerscores.net.
You must use this profile to log into the system, pay fees and pay competition entry.

Format
Matches are played in a best of 5 frames knock out format in roll on and off basis in the venue. The Q-Final, Semi Final and Final are the best of 5 frames
Dress Code – Ranking Events
Failure to meet with the Dress Code Guidelines will result in being removed from the National event.
- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and waistcoat
- You also can wear the official SBI Polo Shirt for all Ranking events.
- Polo Shirts available to purchase in the SBI HQ all sizes available @ €35.00 each

Dress Code – National Championships
- Failure to meet with the Dress Code Guidelines will result in being removed from the event.
- In the National Championships, one coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist and Waistcoats can only be worn
- Bowties are also required for all matches during Championship finals weekend.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible at any SBI National event.
