James Stewart O Reilly from ALSAA SC in Dublin won his maiden SBI title when he won the third Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) Under 14 Ranking event of the season on Saturday the 18th of January in the SBI HQ Carlow. In the final James beat No.1 seed Liam Dunne from Edenderry SC in a superb final 3 frames to 1.
PJ Nolan’s 147academy are the title sponsor for all the Junior Tours this season and it was a fantastic day of Junior snooker with all the young stars of the future playing some great shots and gaining National experience on the table. PJ said ” It was another brilliant day of junior snooker with these stars of the future in action.
Everyone is improving and the standard is going up and up. Eight players entered the event today and as our National Coach I was very impressed with the young talent on show.
In the semi finals we had 4 young stars of the future. In first semi Liam beat the current U-12 National Champion James Brennan from Mayo in a very good match and James beat fast improving Luke Mundy from Cavan SC in a final frame decider. All eyes are on gaining ranking points which will help qualify them for International events later in the year.
This was the third event on the 2024-2025 SBI 14’s Snooker Tour. SBI are holding four U-14 ranking events plus a National 14’s Championships this season. All ranking events will be played on the same day as the 21’s so start time for all matches will 11.30am.
All matches in the 14’s started at 11.30am. The Entry Fees for all Junior events is €10.00 each.

Scott Cooke won the plate event today and showed great confidence in just getting past Mateo who was playing in his first SBI Junior event after impressing everyone at the Shoot Out.
Celtic Challenge
The top 4 at the end of the season will play on the Celtic Challenge Team against Wales in Carlow in July 2025.

- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist
- Waistcoats must be worn for all matches in National Championships.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible
- Bowties are also required for the SBI Championships for all matches.
