Aaron Hill from Cork won the first IBSF / RIBSA U-18 Snooker Ranking event of the season in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Saturday the 7th of January.
14year Aaron Hill now qualifies to play in the World IBSF Under 18 Snooker Championship in China in July 2017.
In the final Aaron Hill beat Aaron Goldrick from Cavan 3 frames to 0 in a superb match. In the semi-finals Aaron Hill beat Noel Landers 3-0 while Aaron Goldrick beat Darragh Cusack 3-0 in the other semi-final.
The highest Tournament break was 69 by Mark Gleeson earlier in the event.
RIBSA would like to thank the Ivy Rooms for hosting the event and to Referee Paddy Hanifin for making the event a big success on the day.
The winner of each RIBSA U-18 event and the National U-18 Championship this season will receive a place at the World U-18 Championships in China. Event 2 will be held the 18th of February in the Ivy Rooms SC.
Our National Coach PJ Nolan was the Tournament Director and all the matches were the best of 5 frames and the action started at 10.30am.
Format for U-18 Snooker 2016/2017
The entry fee is €10.00. Registration Fee U-21 €10.00 and U-16’s €5.00 – Proof of age required.
Three RIBSA U-18 ranking events will be held before December for the European U-18 Championship. Three more U-18 events plus the National U-18 Championship will be held in 2017 with each winner receiving a ticket to the World U-18 Championships. They will be joined by the highest ranked player on the U-18 rankings at the end of the season if extra players are needed.
Please note : The closing date for all RIBSA Under Age Tournaments will be 1pm on the Friday before the tournament. Waistcoats are required for all events however National waistcoats are not permitted.
Play will begin at 10.30am and the Draw will be on the RIBSA Web Site @ 3pm
