The Snooker & Billiards Ireland Academy of Excellence in Carlow was the venue for second billiards ranking event of the season that took place on Sunday 22nd October which also featured only the second annual Victor O’ Gorman Classic and in a fitting way Victor’s clubmate Wayne Doyle won the trophy once again for the second year running. The event was 400up with a 90 minute time limit.
10 players competed after John Kehoe withdrew from the event due to a flu. Lloyd Myers beat Annette Newman before losing to Aidan Murray who went on to beat Larry Drennan in the semi finals who won a close game against Jason Dowling despite Jason compiling breaks of 55 and 67 respectively.
Wayne Doyle got to the final with fine wins over Anthony O’ Flaherty with breaks of 52, 85 and 77 unfinished before getting the better of his brother Ross Doyle with a 61 break after Ross was impressive with victories over Brendan Devlin and Joe Doheny where he had a decent break of 97, unfortunately however he found his big brother too strong to handle at the semi final stage.
The final itself was a dissapointnent and pretty much a one sided affair with Wayne playing the high standard billiards of old and topped it off with a 114 break to which Aidan was no match for Wayne who got sweet revenge for his final loss in the last ranking event in Newbridge two weeks earlier. Aidan never got going and Wayne was devastating in his scoring ability to eventually take the second billiards ranking event of the season on a scoreline of 400-165.

The Paddy Murray Billiards Memorial Event will take place next Sunday 29th October in Edenderry Snooker Club at 11am and the third billiards ranking event of the season will be held at the AOH Club in Cork City on Sunday 12th November at 11am.
