Everyone involved in Irish snooker will be saddened to hear James (Jim) Weber passed away on the 6th of February. The Republic Of Ireland Billiards and Snooker Association would like to offer their very deepest sympathy to all his family at this sad time.
James (Jim) Weber passed away on 6th February 2019. James was the Republic of Ireland snooker champion in 1962, when he also secured the All Ireland title by beating the Northern Ireland champion in Belfast.
James later went on to secure the Republic of Ireland title in the 1970’s as well. James represented his country 13 times at international level. James would have played in the same national teams as Dessie Sheehan,, Jack Rogers, Pascal Burke.
James was part of the Ireland team which played against the Rest of the World team, in 1974 when Ireland staged the world amateur snooker championships at the Regency Hotel in Whitehall.
James had a lot of health problems in the last few years, but he passed away peacefully at St.Vincents Hospital, Elm Park. James was 83 when he died.
