Snooker & Billiards Ireland held their second (SBI) Under 21 Snooker Tour Event of the season on Saturday 21st of October 2023 in the SBI HQ in Carlow and the Number 1 seed was Noel Gleeson from Nenagh after he won event 1. As part of European Week of Sport SBI had set the entry fee to €1 and the TD was John Tobin.
This event was won by Leone Crowley from Cork after he beat Ryan McGuirk from R&R SC 3 frames to 0 in a great match to claim the title.
The standard was very high all day in the early rounds with great matches from our U-21 stars. There were good wins for Ryan McGuirk over Aaron Quinn, Joe Shannon beat David Farrelly, Leone Crowley beat Lewis Casserly, James O Connell beat Foinn Nagle
In the Q-Finals : No. 1 seed Noel Gleeson beat Dylan Troy 3-1, Ryan McGuirk beat Ben du Bois3-0, Leone Crowley beat Joe Shannon 3-0 and James O Connell beat Adam Halnon No.2 seed 3-1 in four very good matches.
In the Semi finals we saw two more excellent matches between Noel Gleeson v Ryan McGuirk & Leone Crowley v James O Connell. End of the day it was superb wins for Ryan 3-2 & Leone 3-1 to set up the second SBI U-21 final of the season.

The highest break on the day went to Leone Crowley with a 43 break

CUTT OFF DATE FOR 2024 IBSF U-21 CHAMPIONSHIPS & HOME INTERNATIONALS
U-21’s: a player who’s 21st birthday is on or before 31st August 2024 will not be able to enter the SBI under 21s events in the 2023 /24 season.
Snooker & Billiards Ireland SBI were recently notified by EBSA of their intention to move the age qualification date for all junior events effective from next (2023-2024) season. This decision was subsequently adopted by IBSF meaning that we will have to accept this change and move to different qualification windows for all international junior events.
For the forthcoming season, instead of the player age at 31/12/23 being the age qualification cut-off date, both EBSA & IBSF have now moved this to (31/08/24), 2024 being the year that their relevant events are being held.

Enter Via – On-Line Payment System
Players will have to first pay SBI registration / membership or Renewal their membership and register for the new season. When you register, you will be asked to create a username and password. You will only be allowed to enter an event if log in and use this username and password.
You can reset your own password and there is also a support form on the system for members to complete and I.T. will follow up to resolve any major issues.
Closing Dates
The closing date for all SBI events will 1pm on the Thursday before the event. The Draw will be done automatically on the system with match times and displayed on the web site.
Tournament Entry Fees
The cost of entry will be the following:
- Under 21 Events – €10.00
All players will need to register for the new season. SBI Registration runs from September to September each season.
SBI Registration
- Under 21’s – €20.00
- One Day/Event – €10.00
Only SBI members can access the online system and enter to play in SBI tournaments but one-day registration is available at €10.00 if you are not already a SBI members, remember this expires 24hrs after the event.
Format
- All matches are the best of 5 frames
Dress Code
- SBI POLO SHIRTS ARE ALLOWED
- Dark Shoes (no runners)
- Dark one coloured trousers (no jeans)
- One coloured shirt buttoned at the wrist
- Waistcoats must be worn for all matches in National Championships.
- National Waistcoats are not permissible
- Bowties are also required for the SBI Championships for all matches.
