Cathal Horgan from Youghal CYMS won the 2026 Clancy Homes Junior Shoot Out in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Sunday the 30th of May. In the final Cathal beat James Brennan from Mayo in a fantastic final which was refereed by Declan Cummins and the marker was Neil Shanahan.
The event was another big success and the standard of Junior snooker was first class. PJ Nolan was the TD on the day.
We held four tournaments on the day to qualify 4 players for the knock out. Clayton Cregan won Event 1, Dermot Kelly won event 2, James Brennan won event 3 and Cathal Horgan won event 4 to set two great semi-finals.
In the final there was no stopping Cathal on winning the event and the €400 winners prize plus Perpetual Cup and trophy. James had to settle with €200 and his trophy. Dermot Kelly won the high break in the event.

Tournament Format
- The event is only open to 21 and under players
- All players will be guaranteed a minimum of four matches on the day.
- Four Seperate Draws will be made to qualify the players for the knock out stage.
- 1 player will qualify from each event at 10am, 11am, 12 noon and 1pm
- Knock Outs start with the four winners at 2.30pm
10 Minute Matches
- All matches will be one frame, with a time limit of 10 minutes per match.
- A beep will start the matches in the venue, and a 3,2,1 beep will end all matches.
- A recommended 15sec Shot Clock will be used but if player trying to delay the clock, they will receive a YELLOW warning. On receiving a second warning in the event a player will forfeit the match.
- The Tournament officials on the day will monitor this and ensure the smooth running.
