Peter Gilchrist is the 2013 Irish Open Champion in the ‘World Billiards’ event ran at the Ivy Rooms in Carlow this weekend. Peter who was defeated in a game by the Republic of Irelands Aidan Murray in the Groups Stages yesterday had to come back to the Ivy Rooms this morning at 10am and do it the hard way, but it no is certain that the defeat to Murray was only a small hiccup for this superstar of Billiards who brushed aside all opposition today en-route to the decider and in the final against England’s Rob Hall he was on top form exceeding 220 points in two breaks. Hall did rally well in the end with a 220 break, but the damage was done by the Back-to-Back Irish Open Champion.
Hall was impressive over the weekend too, but Gilchrist looks every bit the champion during the weekend.
Final Result
Peter Gilchrist 588 – 479 Rob Hall
