Michael Judge recorded his second Ranking Points Tournament win since his return to the amateur ranks when he was victorious over David Morris in the final of the Irish Master’s at Celbridge Snooker Club on Sunday 10th February. In a superb match both players were in great form and the outcome was in doubt right up to the end.
Michael settled best early on and raced into a 3 – 0 lead. However David having won all of his previous twelve RPT finals was not going to give up his proud record without a fight. Playing great snooker he reeled off the next 4 frames in rapid time. Michael upped his game to take the 8th frame and force a decider. David had an early 51 break and looked to be in a strong position. In a nervy finish both lads missed chances before Michael cleared the colours to the pink to win 5 frames to 4 and claim the Irish Masters Cup.
Tournament director Tony Thorpe thanked Phil Martin and his staff for their hospitality over the weekend and for presenting the tables in excellent condition. Also the referee’s, Jim Carrick and P J Nolan for their work behind the scenes.
