Ireland Win Super Senior Celtic Challenge

Last Saturday SBI held the Super Seniors Celtic Challenge in the SBI HQ in Carlow where the Irish team lifted the title. With a score of 52 – 44.

The event was played over one day which consisted of 8 players from Ireland taking on 8 players from Wales

The format was that you played six players from the opposite team 2 frames each with a point for every frame won. The results of each session were as follows

Session 1

Ireland 9 – 7 Wales

Session 2

Ireland 5 – 11 Wales

Session 3

Ireland 8 – 8 Wales

Session 4

Ireland 10 – 6 Wales

Session 5

Ireland 10 – 6 Wales

Session 6

Ireland 10 – 6 Wales

Overall Ireland 52 – 44 Wales

It was a fantastic achievement for Ireland as Wales were the current holders so a tie would have been enough for Wales to retain the title. Darren Morgan of Wales had the highest break of the day with 104 while on a maximum attempt.

SBI would like to thank the Wales team for making the journey over and commiserate the Welsh team. SBI would also like to thank referees Aonghus McAnally and Kevin Christie for all their help on the day

We would also like to thank TD Shane Mason for running the event and for arranging the transport for the Wales team from the ferry in Rosslare
