On Sunday 4th Jan 2026, the 4th tournament of the Super Senior’s calendar year was hosted by Newbridge CYMS. 17 players competed in this event with many closely fought contests.Top seed for this tournament was Brendan Thomas. In the last 32 matches, there was comfortable wins for both Kevin McMahon & John Carney.
Into the last 16, Kevin McMahon faced off against Brendan Thomas and this turned into a very tightly contested match.
In the end a decider was required to find a winner and it was Brendan who prevailed on the final Pink to win it 3-2.
Another tough last 16 battle was contested between Brian McPhee and local player Ernie McMullen, with it also requiring a final frame decider to find the winner. It was Ernie who controlled the 5th frame and eventually won it 3-2.
Comfortable wins were also registered to players Tommy Murphy, Frank Sarsfield, Paul Kellett & Paudie Kelly in their last 16 matches to progress into the Quarter finals. In the last 8 matches .. No.1 ranked player Brendan Thomas along with Frank Sarsfield & Ernie McMullen never dropped a frame in their respective matches to progress into the semi finals with 2nd seed Paudie Kelly also joining them. Into the Semi’s, and it was Brendan Thomas who faced off against Frank Sarsfield. It was Dublin man who won out this match beating his Limerick opponent on a scoreline of 3-0.

The other semi final match between Nenagh man Paudie Kelly and local player Ernie McMullen was another close tight affair, with the first 4 frames shared. In the final frame it was the No.2 seed that prevailed with a 3-2 score.
So at the end ,this was a final between the top 2 seeds. Dublin’s Brendan Thomas verses Tipperary’s Paudie Kelly. In this final both players gave it their all, in a closely contested match, with excellent tactical exchanges and close cue ball control.
The first 2 frames were shared, but it was Paudie that took the lead in capturing the 3rd frame, to lead 2-1. Into the next and Paudie again pushed on and made more of his chances and eventually ran out a 3-1 winner.
