Snooker & Billiards Ireland held their final ”Snooker in Schools” project of 2025, on Tuesday the 16th of December for students from St Fergal’s College Rathdowney in County Laois. This grass roots development program main objective, is to help develop the interest of our sport within schools and to grow the game.
SBI who are the governing body of Snooker and Billiards in the Republic of Ireland were delighted to have the St Fergal’s College in Rathdowney avail of PJ and his SBI team coaching skills.

Mini Star Tables
Our miniature Star snooker tables used today provide more opportunities for SBI to introduce the game into schools, and at various events to help introduce new younger people to play the game while helping promote our sport going forward.

Learn the Basics
St Fergal’s College Teacher Ciaran Comerford invited Snooker & Billiards Ireland to hold this promotion day to teach his young students, the basics of the game from the SBI National Snooker Coach PJ Nolan and his SBI Qualified Coach Shane Gorman.

Gold Medals
The boys and Girls learnt how to develop a good Bridge Hand, Stance and Grip through demonstrations by snooker coaches. We also had a final with every group and the winners received a gold medal.

Fun Day
Both the boys, girls and the all teachers said they really enjoyed the session and they learnt a lot and had fun doing it. The handouts with the technical information on the fundamentals were to encourage them to play more in the future. St Fergal’s College Rathdowney thanked the SBI and Coaches for hosting the successful session.

SBI Thank you
Ciaran Comerford who had helped to organised the day was also delighted with how much the boys and girls were learning about our beautiful sport. SBI would like to thank PJ and Shane Gorman for making this snooker in schools day a success today.

Snooker in Schools
